Actor Orlando Bloom has been mocked by a slew of celebs, including his own fiancée Katy Perry, after rocking a questionable fashion choice.
The Pirates of the Caribbean and Lord of the Rings star took to Instagram this week to share an outdoorsy snap from a recent hike.
Dressed in stylish neutral trousers and a hoodie, Bloom’s outfit may have been acceptable – if not for the heavy, patterned poncho he layered over the top.
Calling himself a “ponch-bro” in the photo’s caption, Bloom seemed pretty proud of the poncho, which features brown stripes and a colourful trim.
But other celebs weren’t so convinced and made their opinions known in the comments section.
“What are we going for here, just to be clear?,” Gwyneth Paltrow wrote.
American journalist Derek Blasberg also panned the outfit, saying: “Should I stay, or should I poncho?”
Bloom’s own fiancée Katy Perry, with whom he shares daughter Daisy, chose not to mention the poncho at all.
“Baby can you please take the dogs out to pee I’m stuck on a call,” she joked in the comments section.
Other fans called the poncho a “throwback” to Bloom’s role in Lord of the Rings as the elf Legolas, who wears a similar green cloak in several scenes throughout the film trilogy.
“Your Legolas is showing,” one wrote, another saying: “Legolas, what do your elf eyes see?”
However, some supported Bloom’s latest style statement, calling it “trendy” and “fashion forward”.
Danish supermodel Helena Christensen voiced her support for the outfit, writing: “Singlehandy revived the poncho.”
“Fashion forward!” added American actress Vinessa Shaw.
Perhaps Bloom is a step ahead of us all in the fashion game and ponchos will be the next big trend in men’s fashion… or maybe not.
